It’s All About Jesus!
Welcome to this year’s focus, “It’s All About Jesus!” We’ll be looking together at the life, ministry, and teaching of Jesus. Since He is our Model, our Mentor, and our Master, what better way to grow in our faith than to learn from The One who was the very Word of God in the flesh? So sit back, soak in, and seek God with all your heart as we sit at the feet of the Author and Finisher of our faith. It’s all about Jesus!
He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:

Have you ever thought about how much activity is going on all around you? Think about it. Right now there are thousands of radio signals all broadcasting news stories, sporting events, music, and more. There are just as many television signals being beamed right by you as well. Sit-coms, action-packed movies, and a billion commercials trying to sell you things you didn’t even know you needed. Plus, there are about a billion cell phone signals zooming right over your head with people about who-knows-what. All that noise that you don’t even hear—unless you’re tuned in. Turn your radio on, and that music comes alive in your car. Turn your TV on, and all those channels are yours to tap into. Touch a number on your cell phone, and YOU can be a part of one of those conversations. All you have to do is tune in.
It’s the same with God. Our God is a God of ACTIVITY. He is constantly moving. He is continuously working. He is relentlessly speaking. God is not an idle being. He is always in motion, moving around us, among us, and even within us. Jesus uses the image of God as a farmer. “A farmer went out to plant some seeds.” Farmers don’t sit in the house and hope a crop grows. They’re up early in the morning and work long into the day. There is planting that needs to be done. There is fertilizing that will have to take place. There’s weeding and watering and harvesting. Farming is no job for lazy people. It’s constant activity.
This is a message we all need to hear on this first day of the New Year. God is going to be up to something every single day. He will be working. He will be speaking. He will be moving. He will be trying to grow something in us and do some work through us. The only question is, will you be AWARE of His activity? Here’s my challenge for you: Look for God. Listen for God. Open your eyes, open your ears, and open your heart to His Divine Activity. Long before you ever got around to reading this devotional today, The Farmer has already been busy. The hardest part of following God isn’t finding the discipline to be obedient; it’s slowing down enough to notice Him. That’s God’s Word for you today.
