Powerful Words from the Prophets
“The time is coming when Jacob’s descendants will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with fruit!” – Isaiah 27:6 (NLT)
“When Trials and Troubles Become Treasures”

“When Trials and Troubles Become Treasures”
God’s eyes are eyes of Promise and Hope. He never just sees what is or what was. He sees what can be. He sees what WILL be. He also looks upon our situations and the messes we’ve made and sees something that we often don’t. He sees Himself inserted into our mess. So He sees not just what we’ve broken but what He can fix. He sees not just what we’ve wounded but what He can heal. He sees not just the pile of rubble before us but also how He can take that rubble and make something amazing and wonderful out of it. And He sees the impact that His involvement will make for generations to come. Sit with that last sentence for a minute and let it blow your mind.
Isaiah is staring at a mess. Israel is a mess. Judah is a mess. What’s about to happen with the invading armies is a mess. Doom, disaster, despair. Those were the ingredients that Isaiah saw. But all Isaiah could see was what is. Then God opened his eyes and told him what would be.
God knew He could keep a remnant of people safe throughout the exile. He knew that He could bring a group back to rebuild and start over. He knew that He had other prophets who would be coming to continue the work of Isaiah. God also knew He had an “ace in the hole” that would change everything. But Jesus would do more than bring new life and a renewed faith to God’s people. He would cause the Kingdom of God to begin to spread to other people and other lands. All Isaiah saw was the rubble of Israel. God saw Himself in their mess and the ingredients to take His Message around the world for generations to come.
So don’t despair today. Don’t believe for a second that you’ve messed up one too many times or that your situation is too difficult or complicated for God to work in. It’s not. You see now. God sees THEN. You see what you’ve done. God sees what He can do. Our troubles and trials and tragedies become TREASURES in the Hands of God. Put your mess in His Hands and don’t worry about a thing. He’s already working and is generations ahead of you. That’s God’s Word for you today.
