Powerful Words from the Prophets
“The enemy runs at the sound of your voice. When you stand up, the nations flee!” – Isaiah 33:3 (NLT)
“The Lord Is Our Victory!”

“The Lord Is Our Victory!”
As I read our verse for today, I thought of Paul’s words in Romans 8, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” The answer is, “No one!” I thought it was interesting that one of the commentators I read on this passage said that it was believed these were the words the people were clinging to when the Assyrians were at their gates. They knew that THEY weren’t greater than the army outside. But they knew God was!
I thought this might be a good verse for some of us to cling to as well. Maybe some of us have felt as if the Enemy is doing his best to come against us. We’ve been feeling defeated. We’ve been feeling discouraged. Maybe some of us have been working really hard, but we’re not seeing the results we think we should be seeing. Perhaps the thought of just quitting has crossed our minds more than once.
But if the Enemy is trying to stop us, that means we must be going the right way! I think it was Adrian Rogers who said, “If you’re not meeting the Devil head-on once in a while, then you’re probably walking the same direction he is.” Good word. Lift your head today. Are you walking the path that God wants you to walk? Are you doing the work that God wants you to do? If the answer is “Yes,” then OF COURSE the Enemy is going to come against you. OF COURSE, he’s going to try to stop or discourage you. Don’t hang your head, LIFT YOUR FACE! “Greater is the one who is in us than the one who is in the world.” Declare Isaiah’s words in the Devil’s face today. “The enemy runs at the sound of your voice.”
If you’re facing a difficult time right now or you’re up against a big obstacle in your path, don’t just “stand strong.” Ask God to stand with you! Claim the second part of our verse today. “When you stand up, the nations flee!” Ask God for His Presence and His Power. Ask Him to make Himself known as He stands beside you. The enemies at your gates may be bigger than you, but they are NOT bigger than the God who is with you! God is bigger than the Devil and greater than any obstacle that stands in your way. The Lord is Our Victory! That’s God’s Word for you today.
