Walking Through the Psalms

“God Is What You’re Looking For”
God is what you’re looking for. You may not know it, but He is. And not just you. He’s what EVERYONE is looking for. That’s why David makes this proclamation in our verse today. God is the answer to the deepest questions that your soul is asking. What questions are those? Glad you asked!
God is the answer to the question, “Where did I come from?” The roots of your beginning are not in your biological father or mother. They may have given you BIRTH, but God gave you LIFE. You are made in His Image, and you will never truly understand who you are, why you are, or what your life is to be about until you discover Him. He is the source of your very identity.
God is also the answer to the question, “What’s the purpose of my life?” God is the one who has given you gifts and talents. He is also the one who can take those natural talents and make them supernatural by the power of His Spirit. He takes ordinary lives and makes them extraordinary. He takes fugitives and makes them national leaders. He takes shepherds and makes them kings. He takes fishermen and makes them world changers. You were born for GREAT things. Things you will only discover by discovering God.
God is also the answer to the question, “Am I loved?” Many of us have spent a lifetime looking for someone who would make us FEEL loved. As a result, we have our hearts broken over and over again. We’ve discovered that many people just want to use us. Others will only accept us if we become like they want us to be. We’ve tried to change our looks, change our dress, and even change our personalities, hoping desperately to find that love. But it always escapes us. Listen very carefully to this: God loves you FULLY and COMPLETELY, just as you are. You don’t have to look for love. Love has come looking for YOU!
David said he hoped that God’s ways would be made known throughout the whole earth. So do I. But today, more than anything, I hope God’s ways are known to YOU. For you who are trying to “find yourself,” He holds the key. Get to know Him, and you’ll discover you! For those of you who are sick and tired of feeling as if you’re in a rat race with no meaning to your lives, turn to Him. He will put His Spirit in you and work through you in ways you never imagined. And for ALL of you…you are loved. No matter what you’ve done. No matter how you look. No matter how messed up you think your life might be. If you have been looking for love in all the wrong places, look in the one Right Place. God IS love. He’s what we’re all looking for. That’s God’s Word for you today.
