Walking Through the Psalms
“The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.” – Psalm 106:24 (NLT)

“Do You Believe?”
This Sunday, I’m preaching on faith. Hebrews 11:6 says that “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” For you to become the man or woman of God He has called you to become, you must believe. For you to fulfill the calling God has on your life, you must believe. For you to live the victorious life God has called you to live and overcome the challenges, obstacles, and setbacks that life throws your way, you must believe. Faith isn’t found or proven in the easy. It is what we choose to do in the hard, in the difficult, in the face of the seemingly impossible. Can we believe God THEN?
That’s what our verse today is all about. God’s people got to the border of the Promised Land and then stopped believing the promise! They saw the big armies and the well-fortified cities and just couldn’t bring themselves to go in. God was CALLING them. God was LEADING them. God had promised them that He Himself would fight for them. All they had to do was TRUST Him. And they just couldn’t do it. Can you imagine? Because they didn’t believe, they didn’t get to see the fall of Jericho’s walls. They didn’t get to see the parting of the Jordan River. They didn’t get to see the armies fleeing before them. They didn’t get to experience the fertile soil and the incredible crops that were harvested in that land. Instead, they died in the wilderness. They were one step of faith from an incredible future, and they went back to where they’d been instead.
Don’t let that be YOUR epitaph. If God has promised it, He will deliver it! Don’t let fear rob you of what God wants to do in your life. I know the obstacles look big before you. I know you fear what “might happen.” But if God has led you, He will not leave you! Trust the promise of God. He who has called you is FAITHFUL. Don’t spend the rest of your life staring across in sadness at what “could have been.” Trust God, take a step of faith, and claim your stake in your Promised Land. That’s God’s Word for you today.
