Walking Through the Psalms
“How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in him should ponder them.” – Psalm 111:2 (NLT)
“God Is AMAZING!”

“God Is AMAZING!”
Amazing. That’s the perfect word. God is simply “amazing.” Some time ago I was having lunch with a friend of mine, and we got talking about all of the incredible ways that God has worked. I was reminiscing with him about a prayer that I prayed some years ago. A prayer so big and seemingly impossible that it seemed more like a pipe dream, really. But God heard my prayer. And God did what most would have said could never happen. Amazing.
Then my friend shared about his cancer. That word has a way of stealing the faith from anyone who hears it. But in spite of the diagnosis and against the odds, here sat my friend today, cancer-free and enjoying life as if it were all nothing more than a past blip on the screen. We talked and laughed together about how again and again God does what no one expects that He can or will do. He is a GOOD God. He is a FAITHFUL God. He is an AMAZING God. I left that lunch a lot more full of faith than when I sat down. When you spend some time “pondering” the amazing deeds of the Lord, the confidence of God is breathed into you!
Has God been “amazing” in your life? Can you point to those moments when God showed up in ways that cannot be explained away by chance or coincidence? Do you remember when God provided that money just exactly when you needed it? Was it that you were simply “fortunate” or was it God being “faithful?” Can you still remember when you cried out to God and told Him you needed a sign of His Presence, and He gave it to you? Can you still feel the hair standing up on the back of your neck when you realized it was Him? Or can you still remember after that diagnosis that the chances of your child surviving were slim to none, and how it felt when you held that perfect, healthy little child in your arms? Doctors shook their heads and nurses quietly whispered, but you knew. The Great Physician had shown up and did what no one thought could be done.
Ponder those moments again. If you do, two things will happen. The first is that you will relive those exciting, exhilarating feelings you felt when they happened. Tears may roll down your face as they did down ours, sitting in that restaurant. But another wonderful thing will happen as well. You’ll BELIEVE God again. You’ll think about how you need Him right now in this moment for your current situation. But you won’t be as intimidated by it. Not because the circumstance has changed, but because your perspective has changed. Your “pondering” has reminded you of one little aspect about God that you forgot. He is AMAZING! That’s God’s Word for you today.
