Look in the mirror and say this out loud: “God is FOR me.” Do you understand what that means? It means God is on your side! He WANTS you to succeed. He WANTS you to be happy. He WANTS you to live a full and fulfilling life. That’s important for me to say because I know that there are many who are having a hard time believing that right now. But it’s true. God is FOR you.
He is for you regardless of what you are currently going through. A lot of times, life deals us a pretty lousy hand. When it does, we sometimes take that as a personal shot from God. But it’s not. Life is just awful sometimes. It’s one of the perks of living on a fallen planet. But God is still FOR you. He’s for you when the boss is treating you like garbage. He’s for you when your spouse is mad and won’t speak to you for days. He’s for you when your kids are a mess, the house is a mess, and your life is a mess. Being for you means He’s there to share that hard time at work. Being for you means helping repair things with that spouse. Being for you means giving you the strength to parent those messy kids, clean that messy house, and straighten out that messy life. Being for you doesn’t mean you get to escape the bad stuff. But it does mean He’ll help you overcome the bad stuff.
God is for you when He says, “No,” to you. Just like you’re still for your kids when you say, “No,” to them. God is for you when He doesn’t give you what you want. He is for you when you scream and whine and tell Him He’s being really, really unfair. He’s for you when you decide to do what you want. He doesn’t stop you. He lets you do it your way and make a complete mess of things. Then, when you finally come humbly back to admit He was right, He’ll be for you as He helps you rebuild it all again. You see, being for you doesn’t mean God is your genie, giving you whatever you desire. Being for you means He wants to give you what’s BEST for you, even if it’s not what you want at all!
Being for you means God will guide you—if you’ll listen. Being for you means God will walk with you—if you’ll let Him. Being for you means God will help you—if you’ll ask Him. Being for you means God will never, ever stop loving you or believing in you, even if everyone else does. Even if YOU stop loving and believing in yourself. So, look in the mirror and say it again: “God is FOR me!” Listen to Him. Walk with Him. Ask Him. You can face ANYTHING today. Because God is FOR you. That’s God’s Word for you today.
