Powerful Words from the Prophets
Yet Jerusalem says, “The LORD has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.” “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.” – Isaiah 49:14-16 (NLT)

“Tattooed on His Heart”
What a beautiful reminder today of how precious we are to God. And we NEED to be reminded of that sometimes! When life gets overwhelming or when we’re going through suffering or troubles, we sometimes think that maybe God has forgotten us or maybe He doesn’t care. But He hasn’t forgotten. And He ALWAYS cares!
Isaiah’s reminder to the people was to give them hope and call them to faith. It would be easy for them in their time of exile to slip into a “Woe is me” mode. Had their sin taken them too far for God to forgive? Had their circumstances become too difficult for God to undo? Had God finally had enough and turned His back upon them forever?
God’s response to this is so endearing. Not only does God say, “No, I won’t forget you.” He says, “No, I CAN’T forget you!” God uses the image of the bond between a mother with a nursing child and says, “Do you think that mother could forget the child at her breast?” You can almost hear the laugh in His voice as He says, “Even if that was possible, I CAN’T FORGET YOU!” That is how bonded God is to YOU!
God has engraved your name on the palm of His Hand. Your face is always before Him. God is fully aware of where you are and what you are going through. Even on those days when you don’t see Him and can’t feel Him, He is right there with you, and His eye is upon you. He will NEVER leave you or forsake you. Call out to Him today. Ask Him to draw near and give you a sense of His grace and His love. Ask Him to wrap His great arms around you and hold you close. You’re not just engraved on His Hand, you are tattooed on His Heart. He is with you ALWAYS! That’s God’s Word for you today.
