Walking Through the Psalms
“The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts.” – Psalm 110:5 (NLT)
“God Can Strike Down Many Kings!”
“The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts.” – Psalm 110:5 (NLT)
“God Can Strike Down Many Kings!”
David’s confidence, as he went into battle, was not in his skill as a warrior or the army that stood behind him. The enemies David faced were often more numerous and better supplied and armored. But David knew something that gave him the calm assurance no matter who or what he faced. He was never alone. God was with him, stood beside him, and went before him. So the size of the enemy didn’t matter because God was more powerful still. God could strike down “many kings.”
This hit me hard today because of all the conversations I had with people I’ve talked to this weekend. Person after person shared with me battles that they are facing that seem so intimidating and overwhelming. I had some who told me about dealing with family members who are so mean and hateful toward them. I had another who shared about a child they have that has been dealing with feelings of suicide. I had others who shared about some scary health issues they’re facing. I had another person who shared their discouragement over not being able to secure a job. Each conversation seemed daunting.
My guess is that many of you reading this can relate to some of these. All of these things are “enemies” that seek to steal our joy and breed discouragement and fear into our lives. But we are not alone! Look again at what David says: “The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings…” God stands beside you and will not abandon you. Family problems. Health concerns. Financial setbacks. Fear. Worry. Depression. All of these are “kings” that want to dominate your life and take reign over you. But God is greater than these kings! And He is WITH YOU!!
Lay your battle before the Lord today. Don’t be so foolish as to take on these enemies all on your own. God will stand with you. He will send His warriors to fight beside you. The “kings” that stand before you may seem imposing and strong, but the King of Kings fights for you. And He has never lost a battle yet! That’s God’s Word for you today.
